tribute for Kalpan Chawla:
The winds were laden with delight
A lovely child clapped with all her might
The scented hibiscus was swaying to welcome
God has said that an angel is to come
Waiting patiently among the meadow
Happiness was perched atop the willow
Then came the moment of glory
Angels brought the little dreamy story
Christened as a Dream she wished for the moon
Fates gave her flight and the spanking breeze was a boon
At the doors of space she stopped to ponder
And then she flew into the heavens across the blue yonder
Comfortable as a women in all her might
She stood on the horizon like a sprite
As she fired the imaginations of the ordinary
Destiny scripted Danger and unknown into her journey
Returning after an ordeal with space as a hero
She became the epicentre of a doomed inferno
Strapped to Death the loss has been only devastation
Leaving us to reconcile with the littered remains of a fissioned celebration
A perverse destiny may have vaporised the triumph
But the persona that she was will always exude oomph..
Waiting at the Gates of Heaven she smiled to herself
There will be many more dreams she said to herself
Quietly she walked down the lane with her peers
God's fingers lovingly entwined with hers
She made a promise to those in pain...
I will come to pick the stars and the moon again...
