Daily I run the miles to success in anticipation
But again I missed the chariots of heaven
The roads are now infinite and serpentine
Alas my bravery is once again quarantine
I lie in wait for the commoners wheels
It comes here but there is no place for a heel
I strive to retain my sanity again
But none are there to heal my pain
I tread on the path to a downtrodden glory
Wonder sets in to ask if it is only my story
Finally the wheels screech to a halt
I manage a glimpse of heaven woken with a jolt
Yes I have reached my coveted cushy haven
Battered and bruised almost like a fawn
Alas the time has clocked nine
There is no food and there is no wine
Fuming and seething I sit as hungry as a tiger
Waiting for time to emerge a fighter
Alas my conscience has gone awry
Bear with me as I devour the forbidden for my hunger to satisfy.......
